Product description

Adiantum pedatum, commonly known as the Five-Fingered Maidenhair Fern or the Northern Maidenhair Fern, is a deciduous, clump-forming outdoor plant. Small, green, finger-like leaves grow on wiry, black stems, creating a clump of leafy, bright green foliage from spring until the end of autumn each year.

These ferns are tolerant of most soil types as long as they are planted in some moist, well-drained soil. They grow best in partial sun or shade, making them a perfect choice for adding some greenery to the shady corners of the garden.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Instructions

Top Tip

If growing adiantum as a houseplant, provide plenty of humidity to keep your fern happy. Place it in a kitchen or bathroom, mist regularly, or sit the pot on a tray of pebbles filled with water.

How to Water

Water regularly until established then as required to prevent the soil from fully drying out.

How to Plant

Adiantum ferns flourish in moderately fertile, moist but well-draining soil in full or partial shade. Allow 30cm between plants to accommodate new growth and prevent crowding.
