Rotate the pot weekly to encourage even growth, as the leaves naturally orient toward light sources. Wipe the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and maintain their vibrant patterns.
How to Water
Water Calathea consistently to keep the soil moist but not soggy. During the growing season (spring and summer), water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and reduce watering in autumn and winter. Use distilled or rainwater if possible, as Calathea is sensitive to chemicals in tap water. Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water, and empty the saucer after watering to prevent root rot. Mist the leaves regularly to maintain humidity, especially in dry environments.
How to Plant
To plant Calathea, select a pot with drainage holes and use a peat-based potting mix that retains moisture but drains well. Place the plant in a slightly larger pot if repotting, ensuring the roots are not too tightly packed. Avoid planting too deeply; keep the base of the stem level with the soil.
