Product description

Buddleia ‘Lochinch’ Butterfly Bush is a compact deciduous shrub with compact and mounding growing habit, popular for its long wands of vibrant lilac-blue flowers. These flowers grow in cone-shaped clusters with reliable fragrance that attracts butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.

Buddleia Lochinch grows small to a height of 1 metre planted in a fertile, well-drained soil. Their thin arching branches carry narrow green leaves, decorated with a tint of silver undersides. The lilac-blue flowers with orange eyes look very contrasting on a bright sunny day.
Plant this Butterfly Bush in a sunny sheltered spot as a hedging in your garden, around flower borders or simply as a ground cover. These bushes will not invade your garden space and can be planted in small gardens or tricky areas.
The flowers of Buddleja Lochinch will bloom starting from early summer until mid-autumn. Low pruning is required since the bush grows compact. Simply removing the faded flowers will encourage new blooms, thus extending the flowering period.
Butterflies and hummingbirds are in pursuit for these gorgeous flowers for nectar, the fragrance is just irresistible. These flowering plants are perfect hedging for a wildlife garden.
Use them on your patio or plant near the entrance to your garden. Watch how your guests are astounded as their eyes roll over the stunning clusters of your Buddleja Lochinch flowers.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a second flush of flowers.

How to Water

Water young plants regularly for the first year or so until they are fully established. After this, buddleias should only need to be watered during particularly dry spells.

How to Plant

For the best show of flowers, plant buddleia in a sheltered spot in full sun. Ensure the soil drains well and dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Dig in some garden compost and position the plant, placing the top of the root ball just below soil level. Backfill with soil and compost and water in well.
