Product description
Also known as Boxwood or Box, Buxus Balls are a hugely popular way to add year round greenery to the garden. They are well suited to pots and take surprisingly little maintenance to keep in shape.
This Buxus Ball can be used to add colour and interest to entrances, patios or paved gardens as well as adding texture and structure to planted areas. It copes well with pruning and, by using very sharp secateurs, you can easily maintain your desired size and shape without causing any stress or damage to the shrub.
Buxus enjoys a spot in full sun or partial shade and it is best to rotate your shrub occasionally to make sure it receives even amounts of sunlight on all sides. This will help prevent it growing unevenly and altering the shape. The shrub thrives best in moist but well drained soil so requires regular watering during dry spells.
This is a hardy evergreen shrub that will withstand harsh winter temperatures to provide greenery throughout the year.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Like many plants, buxus tends to grow towards the sun. Rotating the plants regularly helps keep them growing evenly, maintaining the neat shape.
How to Water
Water regularly for the first year, particularly during the growing season. Drought tolerant once established.
How to Plant
Position buxus in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-draining soil. It grows well in pots and containers but is equally happy planted in the ground. Dig a hole around twice the size of the root ball and mix in some organic matter. Place the plant in the hole and backfill with soil and compost, ensuring the buxus is planted to the same soil level as it was in the nursery pot. Firm down gently and water in well.
