Product description

Hedera Helix or commonly known as English Ivy is an evergreen shrub with invasive, sometimes aggressive trailing habits. It is an easy to maintain plant and one would definitely notice its 5-lobed thick green leaves (2-2.5 inches) decorated with grey-white veins. English Ivy is suitable for hanging in container pots or as groundcover.

This evergreen vine will prosper well when planted in well-drained soil supplied with a general-purpose fertiliser when young. Once established, this creeper can sustain any climatic conditions and nothing will stop it from invading empty surfaces.

Pruning English Ivy is important in order to maintain the shape and size of the vine. It features beautiful thick and evergreen foliage that shines even in tough winters. Use it to blend mother nature into your landscape garden as this Ivy attracts bees and butterflies in winters.

It bears small yellow-green flowers that contain nectar. These flowers turn into blue-black berries that may be toxic for pets if ingested. English Ivy will cover any ground where grass cannot be grown and suppress the growth of weeds.

Use English Ivy to cover fence or trellises. These are pretty good at clinging to the surfaces; their aerial root system makes them a robust climber.

Make sure your English Ivy is provided with sufficient indirect sunlight. Give your winter garden a strong, healthy Ivy plant and get ready to receive some genuine appreciation from guests.

Instructions

Top Tip

Prune regularly to control growth and prevent it from becoming invasive, especially when grown near structures or trees.

How to Water

Water Hedera regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Once established, water moderately, letting the soil dry slightly between watering. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

How to Plant

Plant Hedera in well-draining soil in partial to full shade, although it can tolerate sun with adequate moisture. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball, place the plant, and fill with soil. Space 30-45cm apart for ground cover. Mulch to retain moisture and reduce weeds.
