Product description
āGolden Lanternsā is a variety of Himalayan honeysuckle. It is a deciduous plant that grows rapidly. During the summer months, it has crimson-coloured bracts which greatly contrast with its bright yellow-green leaves. Peering from these bracts, come delightful little buds of white.
With a preference for partially shaded areas, it also likes to have moist, but well-drained soils. It is also able to tolerate sunny areas.
Overall, a hardy plant and can tolerate temperatures down to -15Ā°C. In case of more severe weather, the root system is hardier and with the rapid growth. At the beginning of spring the plant can be pruned back to its base and will thrive again during the warmer months. It does well in more drought-prone regions and also can do well in coastal locations.
After the flowering season, dark purple fruits form and attract birds. The overall shrub is thicket forming and will look good as a border in rustic settings and does well in attracting other wildlife. Another good suggestion for placement includes flower borders and beds.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.
