Product description
Lonicera 'Belgica’, also known as Dutch Woodbine, is a vigorous deciduous climber with dark green oval leaves that grow in pairs and fragrant red-white flowers. It is a hardy vine-like climbing plant which flourishes in the early summer months of May, June and July.
Dutch Woodbine flowers will turn yellow as they age and transform into red berries in autumn. These deciduous flowering plants will radiate your summer garden landscape with vibrant colour and pleasing delicate fragrance. The scent is particularly strong in the evening, you can plant Lonicera Belgica near your windows.
Watch out for the bees though, they will seek the precious nectar these flowers wield inside. It is a hardy climber that can be trained to climb a fence or wall and it can also be used for border display.
Dutch Woodbine can adapt to a wide range of soils including clay and dry soil but it prefers moist well-drained fertile soil. These plants are generally pest free and demand low maintenance.
Feed them with light manure or compost (organic) for a healthy growth when young. Once established, these climbers manage quite well and can quickly grow up to 5 metres of height.
Let these vines scramble over walls, fences or pergolas to create a fascinating floral display which makes it an attractive choice specially for cottage and wildlife gardens.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.
