Product description
Lupinus Beefeater is a vigorous, perennial plant with sturdy stems rising above bushy clumps of palmate, bright green leaves. This lupin features erect spikes of densely packed, brilliant red flowers with a small yellow fleck in the centre of the upper petal. The flowers open up from the bottom over several weeks, providing a long blooming period from late spring into early summer. Lupins have long been cultivated by gardeners for their elegant line, exquisite colours and fine textured foliage. An impressive perennial, providing a shot of vibrant colour that can easily be incorporated into a border with a hot colour theme or to add height to patio containers.
Provide a sheltered location to protect your Lupines from winds or stake the flowers well with bamboo canes in spring before the flowers appear. Deadhead regularly to encourage a second flush of flowers. Protect the young plants from slug and snail attacks.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

To prevent disease, avoid overhead watering and water at the base of the plant.
How to Water
Lupins need regular watering, especially during dry spells. Keep the soil moist but not soggy, as they don’t tolerate waterlogged roots.
How to Plant
Plant Lupins in well-drained, fertile soil in a sunny spot. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots and space them about 30-45cm apart. Gently firm the soil around the base and water well after planting.
