Product description
The snake plant, also known as Sansevieria, is a species of evergreen perennial native to West Africa. It's named for its long, slender leaves that resemble the skin of a snake, and is prized for its striking appearance and ease of care. The snake plant can grow up to several feet tall but is often kept much smaller through pruning. The leaves are stiff, pointed, and range in colour from green to yellow green, with some varieties having dark green banding or mottling. The leaves are arranged in a rosette pattern and can grow up to several feet long and several inches wide, giving the plant a distinctive and attractive appearance. Despite its striking appearance, the snake plant is one of the lowest maintenance indoor plants available, making it an ideal choice for those who want to bring a touch of nature into their homes but who may not have the time to dedicate to more demanding plants. The snake plant is highly adaptable and can tolerate low light, dry air, and occasional neglect, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of indoor spaces. So, if you're looking for a striking, low maintenance plant to add to your home or office, the snake plant is an excellent choice.

Top Tip
Sansevieria is a low-maintenance plant that purifies indoor air. To keep its foliage looking its best, wipe the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust. Rotate the plant every few weeks to promote even growth. Avoid over-fertilising; feeding with a half-strength cactus fertiliser once every two months during spring and summer is sufficient.
How to Water
Sansevieria thrives with infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. During the growing season, water every two to three weeks, reducing frequency further in the winter. Avoid getting water into the centre of the rosette, as this can lead to rot. Always use room-temperature water and ensure excess water drains away.
How to Plant
To plant Sansevieria, use a container with drainage holes and fill it with a free-draining potting mix, such as one designed for cacti or succulents. Place the root ball into the soil so that the base of the leaves sits above the soil line. Gently firm the soil around the roots, ensuring the plant is stable but not buried too deeply. Position the pot in a location with bright, indirect light, but it can also tolerate low-light areas.
