Product description
Pachira Aquatica, also known as the Money Tree, Guiana chestnut, Saba nut or French peanut, is a large evergreen tree popularly grown as a houseplant, often seen as several plants braided together for a distinct, attractive look.
The stems start out green, gradually becoming brown, and are adorned by large, glossy deep green leaves. When mature, the tree releases unique-looking blossoms with creamy petals and vivid red stamens that start out white at the base. The flowers will appear in summer, followed by fruit come autumn.
Its popularity as an indoor plant for living spaces or offices stems from its tropical looks, ease of care and tolerance of lower light levels.
In Asian culture, the Money Tree symbolises wealth, happiness and financial luck - perfect housewarming gift for someone you care about.
Your Pachira will thrive in a position that benefits from full shade or partial shade, in a moist but well-drained loamy soil. Take care not to overwater the plant, and only water it when the top 5cm of soil are dry to touch. Make sure to dispose of any excess water and avoid waterlogging.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth.
House Plant Size Guide
House plants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes depending on the variety and maturity of the plant.
6cm/12cm/15cm/19cm/23cm nursery pots are the most common size of pot that they are sold in. This measurement is the diameter at the top of the pot.
12cm potted plants are the most popular providing great value for money and an instant impact. Larger plants that come in pots of 20cm+ are great for making a statement in any room and can represent years of growth to get to that level of maturity and size.

Top Tip
To encourage balanced growth, rotate your Pachira regularly so all sides receive even light exposure. Dust the leaves occasionally to allow the plant to absorb light effectively and maintain its vibrant appearance. Fertilise monthly during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser to support its lush foliage and healthy growth.
How to Water
Water your Pachira when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry to the touch, ensuring that the water drains freely from the pot. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so avoid letting the plant sit in standing water. During the growing season, water more frequently, but reduce watering in winter when growth slows. Using filtered or room-temperature water helps maintain the health of this tropical plant.
How to Plant
To plant a Pachira, choose a pot with good drainage and fill it with a light, well-draining soil mix, such as one designed for houseplants or a combination of peat, perlite, and sand. Place the plant in bright, indirect light and position it away from direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn. Ensure the roots are covered, and lightly pack the soil around the base. Water thoroughly after planting and allow any excess water to drain away.
