Product description

Commonly known as the curry plant, Helichrysum Italicum is an attractive garden herb with shimmering, silvery, linear foliage. It works well in flower beds and borders, contrasting beautifully with darker plants. In summer, domed clusters of tiny yellow flowers appear, attracting bees and other pollinators to the garden.

Unsurprisingly given the name, the foliage is highly scented with a spicy, curry-like fragrance. The leaves are edible and can be used to flavour salads, rice, and egg dishes. The flowers can be harvested to make herbal teas.

Helichrysum Italicum is easy to care for in the right conditions. It is drought-tolerant, preferring well-drained soil, and likes a sunny position out of strong winds. While curry plants grow well in pots and containers, they need additional insulation to prevent the roots from frost damage.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Regularly trim the tips of the branches to promote fresh new growth and maintain the plant’s bushy shape.

How to Water

Water regularly, particularly during dry spells. Allow the top 2-3cm of soil to dry out between waterings.

How to Plant

Plant in a sheltered, sunny spot in light, well-draining soil. Add some well-rotted organic matter into the soil and ensure that the drainage is sufficient, especially when planting in containers.
