Product description

The “Debbie” is an evergreen shrub which has thick, glossy-green leaves and produces beautiful pink flowers in a semi-double to peony-like form. The elongated, green foliage is prevalent throughout the year.

The plant can be used in areas for accents in borders and along house walls. They prefer shadier areas and tolerate colder temperatures around -10°to -15°C. Although, it is advisable to plant them in sheltered areas.

These hardy plants grow into large-sized shrubs with single flowers and groups of blooms throughout the plant.

Make sure to keep a watchful eye for any of the pests like aphids, scale insects and vine weevils.

Overall it is a hardy plant which will continue to provide beauty for years to come. If needed, it is important to carefully prune immediately after the flowering season. Also remove the flowers after they begin to wilt. However, this variety is good at loosing its petals to maintain a “prim and proper” look.

Instructions

Top Tip

Protect Camellias from harsh afternoon sun and frost by planting in sheltered spots. Add mulch annually to retain soil acidity and moisture.

How to Water

Water regularly, especially during dry periods. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Use rainwater if possible, as Camellias prefer slightly acidic water. Avoid wetting the leaves to reduce disease risk.

How to Plant

Choose a partially shaded spot with acidic, well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball but no deeper than its height. Position the plant with the root crown above soil level. Backfill, firm gently, and water well. Mulch to maintain moisture and suppress weeds.
