Product description

Perfect for planting towards the back of borders, Fennel Bronze is a striking plant that provides height and structure to the garden.

It has an aromatic fragrance with notes of aniseed. Bees and other beneficial insects are attracted to the plant, and the long stems are popular with flower arrangers.

Bronze Fennel is a culinary herb and is known to relieve heartburn and aid digestion. The leaves complement fish and meat dishes, and also work well in salads. They are often used in French and Italian inspired cooking. The plant’s seeds produce a distinct, strong flavour and can be harvested in autumn for use over winter.

Towards the end of autumn Fennel Bronze will die back and retreat below ground level. Fresh growth emerges in spring and shoots up quickly.

Providing the garden with both height and attractive colouring, Fennel Bronze makes a striking addition to the kitchen garden.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cut back during the growing season to promote a regular harvesting supply of fresh, young leaves.

How to Water

Water young plants regularly for the first season then only during dry spells once established.

How to Plant

Choose a bright spot and plant fennel in full sun in well-draining soil. Water the plant, dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball and position it in the hole, taking care not to disturb the roots too much. Backfill with soil and compost, firming down gently and water in well. Leave around 30cm between plants.
