Product description
Adiantum Fragrans, commonly known as Maidenhair Fern due to it's look, is an attractive indoor houseplant. It displays almost-triangular shaped arched collections of small pinnate leaves that are light green in colour, and the black wiry stalks give off an interesting contrast as well as providing it's stiff upright tree-like appearance. This plant should be kept well watered and the soil moist at all times, letting the soil dry out will result in severe problems. Place in a location that has indirect sun, preferably a shaded area with some spots of sunlight. This variety loves humid spots so it would be ideal for a conservatory or bathroom.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves. Collections or 'mixed' listings for plants will be selected dependant on availability and carefully hand-picked to ensure their quality.
House Plant Size Guide
House plants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes depending on the variety and maturity of the plant.
6cm/12cm/15cm/19cm/23cm nursery pots are the most common size of pot that they are sold in. This measurement is the diameter at the top of the pot.
12cm potted plants are the most popular providing great value for money and an instant impact. Larger plants that come in pots of 20cm+ are great for making a statement in any room and can represent years of growth to get to that level of maturity and size.

Top Tip
Position your Adiantum away from draughts and direct sunlight, as it thrives in a consistently warm and humid environment. Use a pebble tray filled with water or a humidifier to boost humidity levels around the plant. Trim away any dead or yellowing fronds to keep it looking fresh and encourage new growth. Regular care will ensure your fern remains lush and vibrant.
How to Water
Water Adiantum regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging as this can damage the roots. Check the top 2–3 cm of soil and water when it feels dry to the touch. Use lukewarm water to prevent shocking the roots, and mist the foliage frequently to maintain the high humidity this fern loves. Reduce watering slightly during cooler months, but never allow the soil to dry out completely.
How to Plant
To plant Adiantum, use a container with good drainage and fill it with a light, well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. Remove the fern from its original pot and gently tease out any tangled roots. Position the plant so the crown sits level with the soil surface, then backfill around the roots with compost. Water thoroughly after planting and place it in a location with indirect light or partial shade to mimic its natural environment.
