Product description
Our Ostrich Plume Aster seeds produce a colourful show of large, double blooms with feathery petals for an ornate flower display that lasts right through to late autumn. Aster flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies, providing pollen and nectar late in the season. The blooms appear on strong stems from June to October, making Ostrich Plume a popular choice for indoor vase displays.
These half-hardy annuals are easy to grow and look after. Sow Aster seeds in a warm place from March to April and harden seedlings gradually before planting them out from May, when the risk frost has passed. Allow 30cm between plants and position in full sun in well-draining soil, providing a support if necessary. Deadhead spent blooms, or cut flowers for a vase, regularly to prolong the flowering period.
