Product description

Brussels Sprout 'Maximus F1' is a top-performing variety known for producing uniform, firm sprouts that are perfect for winter harvesting. This variety is especially valued for its ability to hold well on the stalk, allowing you to enjoy fresh Brussels sprouts throughout the colder months. 'Maximus F1' offers excellent disease resistance and thrives in UK gardens, making it a reliable choice for home growers. The robust nature of this variety ensures a bountiful harvest of delicious, nutty-flavoured sprouts that are perfect for both cooking and freezing.

To grow 'Maximus F1', sow the seeds indoors from February to April or directly outdoors in May. Transplant the seedlings to their final growing positions from May to June, spacing them 60cm apart in well-drained, fertile soil. Ensure they are planted in a sunny, sheltered spot to encourage strong growth. Regular watering, especially during dry spells, will help develop firm, healthy sprouts. This variety benefits from being planted in soil that has been well-prepared with organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, to support its vigorous growth.

When it comes to harvesting, 'Maximus F1' can be picked from November through to February. The sprouts should be harvested from the bottom of the stalk upwards, as this allows the remaining sprouts to continue developing. This staggered harvesting method ensures a continuous supply of fresh Brussels sprouts throughout the winter. Regular feeding with a balanced fertiliser will promote healthy growth and improve the quality of the sprouts, making 'Maximus F1' an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners.
