Product description

The Courgette 'Defender F1' is a reliable and productive variety, known for its resistance to common courgette diseases and its ability to produce high yields of uniformly green, glossy fruits. This variety is particularly favoured for its consistency and ease of growth, making it an excellent choice for gardeners looking to maximise their vegetable patch's output. The fruits are typically cylindrical and smooth, with a tender flesh that is perfect for a wide range of culinary uses, from grilling to stir-frying.

Sow Courgette 'Defender F1' seeds indoors between April and May to give them a strong start before transplanting outdoors. If sowing directly outside, wait until the risk of frost has passed, typically from late May onwards. Transplant seedlings into a sunny, sheltered spot in your garden, ensuring they are spaced about 60cm apart to allow for healthy growth and airflow. This courgette variety thrives in well-drained, fertile soil, and benefits from regular watering, especially during dry spells.

Harvesting can begin as early as July and continue through to October. It is best to pick the fruits while they are still young and tender, as this encourages the plant to produce more courgettes over the growing season. Regular harvesting also prevents the fruits from becoming too large and losing their flavour and texture. With proper care, Courgette 'Defender F1' will reward you with a plentiful supply of fresh, homegrown courgettes throughout the summer and early autumn.
