Germination generally takes 14-21 days and when the seedlings are large enough to handle, they can be thinned out to prevent overcrowding. Choose a spot in full sun in well-draining soil and allow 15cm between plants. Water Californian Poppies regularly until they are firmly established and become drought tolerant. Deadhead spent blooms to promote further flowering and prevent self-seeding.
