Product description

Bright late season colour to usher the garden into the Autumn. The Hesperantha coccinea 'Pink Princess', also known as Kaffir Lily, is a vigorous, semi-evergreen perennial shrub with clumping, bushy narrow leaves of bright green which mass beneath stems holding small groups of star-shaped blooms. These flowers consist of 6 narrow petals of pale pink, nearing white, and long central anthers. The flowers appear around late Summer and will last well into the Autumn months.

Plant in moist, moderately fertile, well-drained soils and keep in full sun in a sheltered position. Protect from cold Winter winds and frost with organic mulch. Semi-evergreen in mild regions but will die back and regrow the following Spring in colder areas.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Herbaceous plants die back below the soil in the Winter and may be supplied in their dormant state during this time. Fresh growth will be seen the following Spring.

Instructions

Top Tip

Hesperantha benefits from being planted in a sheltered spot to protect it from strong winds, which can damage its tall stems.

How to Water

Water Hesperantha regularly during the growing season, keeping the soil moderately moist but not soggy. Water at the base to avoid wetting the foliage, especially during hot weather.

How to Plant

Plant Hesperantha in well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Choose a sunny spot with good airflow. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots, place the plant, and cover the roots with soil. Space them 30-45cm apart for optimal growth.
