Product description

These Mina lobata (Ipomoea lobata) Exotic Love seeds produce stunning climbing plants with tall stems covered in racemes of small tubular flowers down one side. The showy blooms emerge a deep shade of crimson red before turning orange then yellow, and eventually white as they mature through the summer months. Also known as Spanish Flag, these striking outdoor plants have a long flowering period, blooming from June all the way to the first autumnal frosts in October.

Sow Spanish Flag seeds in groups of 4 seeds in pots from April and keep at 18-20C. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, gradually harden them off and transplant outside. Alternatively, sow the seeds directly into the flowering site from mid-May. Choose a sheltered spot in full sun in moist but well-draining soil and leave 15cm between plants. Water Mina lobata plants routinely, particularly during dry spells.
