Product description

Hazy, finely divided leaves are the perfect backdrop for the interesting summer flowers these Persian Jewels Nigella seeds produce. Blooming from June to August, the delicate semi-double flowers decorate borders with shades of pink, purple, blue, white. The centre of each delicate flower boasts a prominent stamen that is irresistible to pollinators, enticing bees and butterflies into the garden all summer long.

Choose a sheltered spot in full sun in moist but well-draining soil and sow Nigella seeds directly in the flowering site from March to May, raking over them to lightly cover with soil. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out, leaving 20cm between plants and water regularly until they are well established. Spent flowers can be left in situ for their attractive seed heads. Alternatively, remove faded blooms to prevent self-seeding.
