Product description

The Poppy 'Ladybird' is a compact, bushy variety that stands out with its vibrant red petals, each adorned with a striking black blotch at the base. These eye-catching flowers are perfect for adding bold splashes of colour to garden borders, containers, or wildflower meadows. Known for its easy growth and hardy nature, the 'Ladybird' poppy is an excellent choice for gardeners looking to create a dramatic display with minimal effort.

To grow Poppy 'Ladybird', sow the seeds directly outdoors from March to May or in late August to September for flowers the following summer. The seeds should be sown thinly and covered lightly with soil. Once the seedlings emerge, thin them to about 15cm apart to give each plant enough space to thrive. These poppies prefer full sun and well-drained soil, making them ideal for sunny spots in the garden. They are particularly well-suited to poor or average soil conditions, where they will flourish with minimal care.

The 'Ladybird' poppy will bloom from June to September, providing a continuous display of bright red flowers. To keep the plants flowering for as long as possible, regularly deadhead the spent blooms. This not only extends the flowering period but also encourages the plants to produce more blooms. With its striking appearance and easy-care nature, the Poppy 'Ladybird' is a must-have for any garden looking to add a touch of vibrant colour.
