Instructions

Top Tip

Pteris ferns thrive in humid conditions, making them ideal for bathrooms or kitchens with natural light. To encourage lush growth, feed them with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks during spring and summer. Regularly remove any faded or damaged fronds to keep the plant looking fresh and healthy year-round.

How to Water

Water your Pteris fern regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. During the growing season, check the soil frequently to avoid it drying out completely. In cooler months, reduce watering slightly while still maintaining moisture. Use room-temperature water to avoid shocking the roots, and mist the leaves occasionally to maintain high humidity.

How to Plant

To plant Pteris, use a shallow pot with drainage holes and fill it with a well-draining, peat-based potting mix. Position the plant so that its roots are spread out, and ensure the crown is level with the soil surface. Gently firm the soil around the roots and water lightly. Place your Pteris fern in a location with bright, indirect light, away from direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate fronds.
