Product description

Pumpkin 'Dill's Atlantic Giant' is a renowned variety famous for producing some of the largest pumpkins in the world, with fruits that can exceed 200kg. This giant pumpkin is ideal for competitive growers and those looking to make a statement in their vegetable patch. The massive, bright orange fruits are not only impressive in size but also versatile in the kitchen, making them perfect for pies, soups, and roasting.

To grow Pumpkin 'Dill's Atlantic Giant', start by sowing the seeds indoors from April to May, planting them 2.5cm deep in seed compost. Once the seedlings have developed and the risk of frost has passed, transplant them outdoors in late May to June. Select a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained, fertile soil, and space the plants 200-300cm apart to accommodate their vigorous growth. Regular watering and feeding with a high-nitrogen fertiliser will support the rapid development of the giant fruits.

Pumpkins require consistent care to reach their full potential. Water the plants regularly, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil consistently moist. Mulching around the plants helps to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. As the pumpkins grow, you may need to support the fruit to prevent damage. Harvest the pumpkins from September to October when they have reached their full size and the skin is hard. With proper care, 'Dill's Atlantic Giant' will reward you with an impressive harvest, perfect for competitions or simply showcasing in your garden.
