Product description
Enorma is a popular variety of runner bean grown for its high yields of long, straight pods that grow to 30-32cm in length. These runner beans have a superior flavour and are best enjoyed young and tender. They freeze well, are bursting with nutrients, and are a great source of fibre, vitamin C, folic acid, and iron. All this combined with large trifoliate leaves and bright red flowers, makes Enorma an excellent choice for beds and pots.
Sow Enorma Runner Bean seeds under glass from March to April or directly outdoors from May to June. Plant the seedlings out from late May to July in a sheltered, sunny spot with 20cm spacing between plants. Crops should be ready to harvest from July to September, and are best picked regularly while they are young and tender.
Grow runner beans in a sheltered spot in full sun and water regularly, especially during flowering season. Runner beans are fast growers, so don’t worry if you don’t get them started off under glass in spring, they’ll soon catch up when sown outdoors. Canes are ideal for providing support for the plant’s climbing habit and allow you to easily see where seeds have been planted before the shoots emerge. If you do start runner beans off indoors, ensure they are hardened off before transplanting them outside, as they are particularly sensitive to the cold.
