Product description

Sage is a handy herb that is popular for its evergreen nature, adding colour interest to borders and pots all year round. However, that’s not all it has to offer. In summer, the plant is decorated with short spikes of mauve-blue flowers that attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators into the garden.

As for culinary uses, Sage is perhaps most famously used to make stuffing for Christmas dinner, but fresh and dried leaves also add flavour to meat and fish dishes. Sage also makes a pleasant tea that helps alleviate the symptoms of coughs and colds. This garden herb is full of goodness and is an excellent source of iron, folic acid, calcium, fibre, and vitamin A.

Grow Common Sage in a sheltered, sunny spot in moist but well-draining soil. Once established, Sage is drought-tolerant and doesn’t need much attention to thrive. Cut back in spring to promote fresh bushy growth and prevent the plant growing straggly.

Sow Sage seeds indoors from February or directly outside from April to May. Plant out from May to July, when the risk of frost has passed and allow 30cm between rows.Harvest throughout the year.
