Berberis ‘Lutin rouge’ is a lovely little shrub that is easy to keep in check and the perfect choice for a low maintenance patio plant or in mixed containers. This Japanese Barberry is quite compact and won’t require much pruning to keep it tidy. The leaves emerge in early to mid-Spring and, if grown in full sun, grow a bright scarlet colour which deepens as the leaves mature. If left in the shaded the leaves will shift to a bright green colour over time.
Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Drought resistant and hardy. Requires little water be wary of overwatering as this could affect growth.
