Product description

Berberis thunbergii Coral is a deciduous, mound forming, slow growing shrub. It features oval-shaped, vivid red foliage that bears a sporadic gold hue. Summer is when the plant will show off these attractive features, as well as yellow, bell-shaped flowers. Due to its compact nature, this plant is ideal for pots, containers, beds, borders and more. It will lose its general style and colour in Winter, before returning to thrive once more in Spring time. It should be planted in moist, well drained soil and watered regularly. When positioning the plant, partial shade and full sunlight conditions are acceptable, with the latter being more beneficial for long term growth.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a grower’s pot.

Instructions

Top Tip

Berbaris plants are covered in spines, so always protect yourself with gloves and long sleeves when tending them.

How to Water

Water generously and regularly for the first growing season. After this, berbaris is relatively drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.

How to Plant

Berberis grows well in most moist but well-draining soil types and thrives in full sun or partial shade. Prepare the ground, digging in some garden compost and position the plant in the hole before backfilling and watering in well.
