Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Cut back longer shoots immediately after flowering to maintain a manageable size and shape.
How to Water
Water akebia regularly for the first growing season until it is fully established. After this it should only need to be watered during dry spells.
How to Plant
Choose a sheltered spot in full sun or partial shade and plant Akebia in moist, well-draining soil. Akebia is a vigorous climber, so a pergola, trellis or other support is ideal unless you plan to prune it often. Dig a hole 2-3 times the size of the root ball and add in some well-rotted organic matter before positioning the plant and backfilling the hole. Firm gently, water in well, and add some more organic matter.
