Product description
Andromeda polifolia Compacta is a mound forming, evergreen shrub that produces light pink, urn-shaped flowers. Due to its compact and dense habit, this plant is ideal for pots, containers, beds, borders and more, with the narrow, dark green leaves of the plant being overtaken by clusters of flowers in Spring. This evergreen variety will provide year-round interest, is easy to grow and a long living outdoor plant. It should be planted in moist, well drained, peat or sand soil and watered regularly. When positioning the plant, partial shade and full sunlight conditions are acceptable, with the latter being more beneficial for long term growth.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a grower’s pot.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
While andromedas are happy enough in shady parts of the garden, a sunnier position will produce more flowers.
How to Water
Water thoroughly and regularly, using rainwater wherever possible, to keep the soil consistently moist.
How to Plant
Andromeda is ideal for planting in tricky spots in the garden. It thrives in full sun, partial shade, or full shade and prefers soil that is moist or poorly drained. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, add some organic matter and water it well, allowing it to drain before positioning the plant and backfilling the hole. Soak the surrounding soil with water and add more organic matter as mulch.
