Product description
Perfect for rock gardens, flowerbeds and other small areas of the garden, Arundo donax Ely is a dwarf variety of ornamental grass. It is often used around ponds and streams and makes an ideal background for shorter flowering plants.
Arundo donax Ely has a clump-forming habit with elongated arching leaves emerging from strong stems. The light green foliage is variegated with creamy stripes, producing an eye-catching effect. It is rare to see Arundo donax Ely flowering in this country, but if and when it does, silvery-purple feather like flowers bloom in Summer.
Although Arundo donax Ely is native to the Mediterranean, it is fully hardy against the low temperatures of a British Winter. Requiring very little maintenance, it can tolerate full sun but flourishes best in partial shade.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.
