Product description

An evergreen hardy fern with compact, clumping and slow growing foliage. Asplenium scolopendrium 'Cristatum', otherwise known as Crested hart's tongue fern, produces a slightly different shape to its type series- a domed clump, rather than a rosette-like shape. Its foliage is light-mid green in colour, with broad, fanned leaves that have a crimped appearance at the end of the frond. This plant is well suited to any shaded areas, such as borders, ground cover or underplanting.

Plant in moist, well drained soil. Keep in partial or full shade. Prefers a humus-rich, alkaline soil. Tolerant of a small amount of sun. Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid scorching.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a grower’s pot.

Instructions

Top Tip

Direct water towards the soil rather than the fronds to help prevent root rot.

How to Water

Water well for the first year. After this asplenium is relatively drought tolerant.

How to Plant

Plant asplenium in full shade or partial shade in moist but well-draining soil. Dig in plenty of garden compost before planting to give the soil a boost of nutrients and help hold in moisture.
