Product description
A fast growing but compact variety of herbaceous perennial with an abundance of richly coloured blooms in the Summer. The Astrantia 'Star of Beauty' is a clump-forming plant with deeply divided, toothed leaves of dark green which sit beneath branching, upright stalks holding interesting flowers consisting of rounded umbels of tiny, white florets tipped with purple and surrounded by narrow, magenta-purple bracts with light touches of grey. These free flowering blossoms can be seen throughout the Summer.
Plant in moist, humus-rich, fertile, well-drained soils and keep in full or partial sun in a sheltered position. Tolerates drier soils and conditions once established but does not tolerate drought conditions.

Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

How to Plant
Dig in plenty of garden compost and plant in spring or autumn in rich, moist but well-draining soil. Astrantia grows well in full sun or partial shade but prefers a little shelter from strong afternoon sun. Create a hole slightly wider than the root ball and position the plant before backfilling, firming gently as you go. Water in well after planting.
