Product description
Blechnum brasiliense Volcano, also commonly known as the Dwarf Brazilian Tree Fern, is an evergreen, outdoor fern plant. Slightly crinkled leaves grow on arching stems, emerging in shades of fiery red, before fading to rustic bronze and then green.
The Dwarf Brazilian Tree Fern will grow best in moist, well-drained, loamy soil away from direct sunlight. They are excellent plants for adding year-round colour and texture to partially sunny or shady borders and rock gardens or filling in gaps between trees and shrubs.
Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Direct water towards the soil rather than the fronds to help prevent root rot.
How to Water
Water thoroughly until the roots are fully established and during particularly dry spells. Athyriums prefer damp conditions so don’t let the soil dry out.
How to Plant
These shade loving ferns thrive in full shade or partial shade and grow best in soil that is kept consistently moist but not waterlogged. Choose a sheltered spot and dig in plenty of organic matter before positioning the plant and backfilling the soil to the same level as it was in the pot. Firm down gently and water in well.
