Product description

Carex Brunnea 'Jenneke' is a reliable evergreen sedge with an upright and dwarf growth habit, bearing very narrow, arching, pale yellow leaves with dark green margins. This sedge grass copes well in the shade and is perfect for brightening up borders and containers in some darker corners of your garden. Pale brown, feathery flower spikes appear in Spring and add to the elegant, lofty appearance of this delightful ornamental grass.

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained, moist soil. Prefers partial shade but will tolerate a full sun position. Avoid positions that are prone to extremes of wet or dry. Remove faded or dead foliage in spring. May be semi-evergreen in the coldest areas of its range.

Instructions

Top Tip

Carex is a low maintenance plant that doesn’t demand much attention to thrive. However, an annual feed in late spring to early summer will help boost healthy growth.

How to Water

Water regularly during the first growing season. After this, carex is drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.

How to Plant

Plant carex in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile moist, but not waterlogged, soil. Dig a hole slightly bigger than the root ball and add in some organic matter. Carefully tease out the roots and position the plant in the hole before backfilling with soil and compost. Firm the soil down gently and water in well.
