Product description
Caryopteris ‘Hint of Gold’ is a unique medium-sized deciduous shrub, known for its beautiful blue flowers and lime-green foliage. It is an easy to grow plant, ideally used for low hedging against a fence, wall side border or as shrub border. The vibrant colours of its flowers attract butterflies and bees.
The Hint of Gold blooms fluffy clusters of rich blue flowers from the late summer into autumn. The golden leaves mature into lime-green and acts as a striking back drop to the vivid blue flowers. These flowering shrubs need low maintenance, yet they still manage to grow tough and hardy.
They can tolerate moderate drought and thrive in acidic soil that is drained appropriately. They like to grow in full sunlight where the scent of their flowers is strong.
The rounded blue clusters of Caryopteris Hint of Gold bear a resemblance to clouds of blue smoke, hence also called Blue Mist or simply Blue Beard.
Caryopteris Hint of Gold are perfect for natural landscape gardens. Their distinctive golden foliage is what sets them apart from other Blue Beard plants. Add them around the base of other taller shrubs. Prune the faded flowers to encourage new blooms before spring.
Their evergreen foliage will keep your garden lively even in the months of winter.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Resist the urge to provide plenty of fertiliser as this can lead to leafy growth with fewer flowers.
How to Water
Water regularly during the first growing season. After this, caryopteris is drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.
How to Plant
Choose a sheltered, sunny spot in light, well-draining soil and dig a hole around twice as wide as the root ball. Position the plant so the top of the root ball is at soil level. Backfill with soil and compost, gently firm down, and water in well.
