Product description
Choisya ‘Goldfinger' is a compact and neat evergreen shrub widely known for its glossy, narrow and long palmate shaped golden-yellow leaves. This medium-sized shrub has a perfect spreading and mounding habit, fit for a large container or as a single garden specimen. It blooms small white flowers in mid spring and sometimes again in autumn.
This attractive flowering plant is primarily noted for its deeply cut, bright golden leaves that are aromatic. The white flowers carry sweet orange fragrance. But unlike other Choisya varieties, these flowers do not bloom so abundantly. Nevertheless, this exceptional evergreen shrub is sure to vivify the ambience of your garden, all year long.
Choisya Goldfinger will flourish in partial shade or full sunlight, but strong direct sun for extended period in day can scorch the tender leaves. It prefers moist acidic soil that is well-drained. Add a feed of organic mulch to the base of young plants to retain moisture.
These plants are hardy in winter and develop moderate tolerance against drought in summer. The white flowers will bloom again in autumn, so pruning has to be done right after the flowering season.
Choisya Goldfinger is a well-organized arching shrub that will not invade your garden space. These are an excellent choice for hedging and sunny borders, or even in large containers if trimmed timely.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.
