Clematis Freckles is a striking plant that provides a burst of winter colour. The glossy dark green leaves adopt a hint of brown during the cover months, with attractive flowers blooming from December to February. These flowers are pale yellow in colour and feature maroon red spotting, which gives this Clematis variety its name. The flowers are followed by fluffy seed heads that provide additional interest, before the rest of the garden blossoms into life in spring.
A vigorous climber, Clematis Freckes can reach an impressive height of up to 4 metres, making it ideal as a prominent feature when grown at the back of borders against fences, trellises or walls. It also works in pots and containers and looks fantastic trained up a freestanding obelisk.

How to Water
Water regularly throughout the first few growing seasons to keep the soil evenly moist but not saturated. Once established, clematis is relatively drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.
How to Plant
Clematis flowers best when planted in full sun or light shade in fertile, moist but well-draining soil. Prepare the soil by weeding the area thoroughly and adding plenty of well-rotted organic matter. Dig a generous hole and position the plant so the top of the root ball is around 5cm below soil level. Backfill the hole with soil and compost, firm down gently, and water in well.
