Vaccinium macrocarpon ‘Howes’ - commonly known as Howes Cranberry - is a low-growing, evergreen fruit shrub. The dark green leaves, which turn a beautiful bronze or red in winter, are accompanied by delicate pink flowers in late spring or early summer, which are then followed by a crop of juicy, fiery red cranberries in mid-autumn.
Growing to an ultimate height of 15-30cm and an ultimate spread of 0.5-1m, Vaccinium Macrocarpon ‘Howes’ is an excellent choice for growing in cooler climates thanks to its hardiness. Once ripe, the cranberries are great for making pies, juices, cakes and more.

Plant cranberries in acidic, well-drained soil. Choose a sunny spot, and dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball. Space plants 45-60cm apart. Cranberries thrive in raised beds or bog-like conditions.
