Dryopteris aratata or Dryopteris cycadina is a tall, yet sturdy, and hardy, semi evergreen fern. Known more commonly as Shaggy Wood Fern, this plant produces bright green, lance shaped fronds with small black hair on the pinnae. Due to its preference for shade, this plant would do best in a shaded border or woodland garden.
Plant in a moist, well drained, humus rich soil. Thrives best in partial to full shade but will grow in full sun, if watered regularly.

How to Plant
Plant Dryopteris ferns in a shaded or partially shaded area with moist, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Dig a hole large enough for the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Space plants about 45-60cm apart. Water thoroughly after planting.
