Product description

Festuca glauca ‘Amigold’, also known as the Blue Fescue, is a stunning, low maintenance perennial garden shrub with an unmatched versatility: fantastic choice for garden beds or borders, baskets and other containers, or even lawn edging.

The plant’s beautiful semi-evergreen foliage emerges in eye-catching golden yellow / yellow-green spikes of grass that will brighten up any garden. In summer, you’ll see the upright stems release narrow, dense white flower spikelets.

Highly ornamental and a multi-tasker, Blue Fescue is drought tolerant, wind resistant and non susceptible to deer.

As the plant is not fully hardy, it may need shelter in the colder months, and the foliage may turn darker when exposed to the cold. New, bright growths will appear each spring.

Instructions

Top Tip

Festuca thrives in well-drained soil and full sun. Avoid excess watering to prevent root rot.

How to Water

Water Festuca moderately, ensuring the soil is dry to the touch before watering again. These drought-tolerant plants prefer dry conditions once established, so avoid overwatering, especially during cooler months.

How to Plant

Plant Festuca in well-draining soil, in a sunny spot. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Gently firm the soil around the base. Space plants 30-45cm apart to allow for their clumping growth habit.
