Product description

Fuchsia 'Tom Thumb is a compact, deciduous shrub with an upright, self-branching habit. This really lovely fuchsia has ovate, dark green leaves and is covered in masses of small, single bell-shaped blooms that flower over a long period from June to October. The attractive flowers have red-pink corollas and sepals as well as mauve tubes. Its dwarf variety is perfect for planting in borders, rock gardens and containers or for creating a colourful low hedge.

Plant in fertile, moist, well-drained soil and in full sun or partial shade. Water regularly, applying a balanced liquid fertiliser each month during the growing season. Pinch out the growing tips of young plants after the sixth or seventh pair of leaves to encourage continuous growth. Cut back to the permanent framework in early spring.

Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth

Instructions

Top Tip

Fuchsias thrive in cooler temperatures and partial shade. Avoid placing them in full sun, which can scorch their delicate leaves.

How to Water

Water Fuchsia regularly to keep the soil moist, but not soggy. During hot weather, they may need extra water. Be cautious of overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Ensure good drainage to prevent standing water around the roots.

How to Plant

Plant Fuchsia in well-draining, slightly acidic soil in a partially shaded spot. Dig a hole large enough for the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil, ensuring the crown is level with the surface. Space plants 30-45cm apart for air circulation.
