Product description

Do not let its botanical name, Lavandula Angustifolia, confuse your mind as you know this sweetly scented plant better any other garden shrubs. Also known as the English Lavender, Arctic Snow Lavender is a popular small garden plant that is a low-growing and compact evergreen shrub. Its fantastic aromatic evergreen leaves make it perfect to be planted near an entranceway, where its fragrance can be treasured.

English Lavender plants produce their own essential oil that has medicinal use in aromatic therapy. Lavender Arctic Snow blooms pure white flowers spikes profusely from mid to late summer. The flowers of Lavender contrast beautifully with aromatic, grey-green leaves. The flowers attract bees and butterflies. The aroma of the leaves is strong on sunny days.

Lavender is a hardy plant but cannot tolerate the coldest winter. Plant it in a sheltered location in a fertile, slightly alkaline soil that will help extend its life. Prevent waterlogging at all costs and make sure the soil is well-drained. Lavender will thrive in full sunlight or partial shade.

It is an easy to grow plant that requires little maintenance. To keep its compact shape, trim back the stalks after the flowering in April. Be careful not to cut too deep into the old wood. Lavender develops a deep root system that helps the plant become drought-tolerant once it is established.

Arctic Snow Lavender makes a stunning low flowering hedge. Plant it as edging along a pathway or sidewalks where its leaves will release sweet fragrance while brushing against each other. Grow it in garden containers for a sunny patio or at the front of a sunny border.

Instructions

Top Tip

Leave spent flowers in place towards the end of the growing season to provide a valuable food source for birds.

How to Water

Water regularly for the first year. Once established, lavender only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.

How to Plant

Plant lavender in full sun in light, well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and boost the nutrients by adding in some organic matter. Water the hole, allowing it to drain well, then position the plant and backfill with soil, firming gently. Leave at least 35-45etween plants and water in well.
