Product description

This herb plant will allow you to grow your own tasty Lavender from home. They are perfect for beginners, largely due to their hardy and easy to care for nature, whilst they will continue to provide delightful produce for years to come. The process of growing these plants means you can take pride in your work and get others involved as the plants progress from start to finish. Dense flowers appear in Summer with a purple hue to their colour. They also provide great fragrance from their blooms, ensuring that it makes great impact in the garden when they are fully established.

The culinary benefits of this herb plant is unrivalled, with the sweet herbs being suitable for use in meals such as salads, meat marinades, garnished on roast potatoes and many more. The best time for planting them in the garden is in Spring, with Summer seeing their most substantial growth period. You can choose whether to grow them indoors or outdoors, but make sure that they receive plenty of sunlight at all times so they can thrive. Due to being pretty drought tolerant, watering can be carried out to maintain a moist texture in the soil, so that it is never too dry or overwatered.

Instructions

Top Tip

Leave spent flowers in place towards the end of the growing season to provide a valuable food source for birds.

How to Water

Water regularly for the first year. Once established, lavender only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.

How to Plant

Plant lavender in full sun in light, well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and boost the nutrients by adding in some organic matter. Water the hole, allowing it to drain well, then position the plant and backfill with soil, firming gently. Leave at least 35-45cm between plants and water in well.
