Product description

Magnolia loebneri Merrill is a beautiful garden shrub which will eventually grow into a small tree, and interestingly, in the spring, flowers bloom before the leaves. From early spring onwards, branches are covered in masses of pure white, lightly scented blooms which are eventually accompanied by green, oblong leaves.

Plant Magnolia loebneri Merrill in moist, well-drained, acidic or neutral soil, in full sun to partial shade. It will benefit from a sheltered position away from cold winds and protection from late frosts. Pruning is best carried out in midsummer when the plant is in full leaf.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a growers pot.

Instructions

Top Tip

Magnolias benefit from protection against strong winds, which can damage their delicate flowers.

How to Water

Magnolias prefer regular watering, especially during dry spells. Ensure the soil is consistently moist but not waterlogged. Deep watering is recommended for strong root development.

How to Plant

Plant Magnolias in well-draining, slightly acidic soil in a sunny or partially shaded spot. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, place the plant, and fill with soil. Water well after planting, and mulch to retain moisture and prevent weeds.
