The Hyfort is a high yielding variety of onion with a typical light brown papery skin. It has a sharp crisp taste and a strong flavour, making it perfect for an abundance of culinary uses. Hyfort onions store well and once dried out in full sun, they can be kept in a cool, dark and well ventilated space (such as a shed or garage) for use all year round.
This 8 cell tray is ready to be planted out in beds, borders, pots or containers.

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Remove flower stems as they appear to promote larger bulbs that can be stored for longer.

Water the soil, but not the plant, regularly during particularly dry spells but take care not to overwater.

Plant in a warm spot in full sun with well-draining soil, weeding the area and digging in plenty of compost before planting. Onions grow equally well in the ground or in containers, providing the soil drains freely.
