Product description

Phormium 'Brown Sugar' is a compact evergreen perennial shrub that is guaranteed to attract attention. The foliage of the variety develops characteristically long sword-like leaves with a slight autumning habit. The leaves are variegated with attractuve cream and brown stripes and a predominantly chocolate coloured centre, surrounded by bright yellow and orange borders. Ideal for filling a spot in a plant bed that could use a colourful low-growing shrub to brighten things up.

This plant prefers well-drained soil and fully-sunny positions in the garden, but can tolerate partially shaded areas also.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Instructions

Top Tip

Prune Phormium's dead or damaged leaves regularly to maintain a neat appearance and encourage healthy new growth.

How to Water

Water Phormium regularly, especially in dry periods, but avoid waterlogging. Ensure the soil remains moist but well-drained. Once established, Phormium is drought-tolerant and requires less frequent watering.

How to Plant

Plant Phormium in well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded location. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the root ball, place the plant in the hole, and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting to help settle the soil around the roots.
