The foliage of the variety develops characteristically long arching sword-like leaves which are predominantly deep purple, and they develop into a reddish colour around autumn. During long summers they may produce clusters of burgundy flowers on tall erect stems. This plant prefers well-drained soil and fully-sunny positions in the garden, but can tolerate partially shaded areas also, it requires little to no pruning or general maintenance.
