Product description

Polystichum Neolobatum, also commonly known as the Asian Sabre Fern or the Long Eared Holly Fern, is an evergreen, outdoor fern plant. Small, glossy, dark green leaves grow along scaly stems, providing lush foliage all year long.

The Asian Sabre Fern will grow best in moist, well-drained soil and it will thrive best in a shady environment. They are excellent plants for adding colour and texture to partially sunny or shady borders and rock gardens or filling in gaps between trees and shrubs.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Instructions

Top Tip

Polystichum ferns thrive in cool, shaded areas. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent scorching, and apply a layer of compost annually to maintain soil fertility.

How to Water

Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, especially during the growing season. Water deeply once or twice a week, depending on the weather. Reduce watering in winter, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

How to Plant

Choose a shady or partially shady spot with moist, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant at the same depth it was growing, and backfill gently. Water thoroughly and mulch to retain soil moisture.
