Product description
Polystitchum 'Plumosum Densum' is a low-growing, hardy evergreen fern. An extremely popular variety, this wonderfully compact shrub grows to around 1m tall, and develops dark green upright fronds which are finely divided with overlapping leaflets which are almost feathery to the touch, and arrange into an almost shuttlecock-like shape before maturing into a more commonly seen mound shape.
Commonly known as the Soft Shield Fern, this variety looks great in a border, does best in partially or fully shaded areas of your garden, and will thrive in fertile, humous rich soil so long as it is well drained.

Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Polystichum ferns thrive in cool, shaded areas. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent scorching, and apply a layer of compost annually to maintain soil fertility.
How to Water
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, especially during the growing season. Water deeply once or twice a week, depending on the weather. Reduce watering in winter, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
How to Plant
Choose a shady or partially shady spot with moist, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant at the same depth it was growing, and backfill gently. Water thoroughly and mulch to retain soil moisture.
